The Caraway essential oil is extracted from the Carum Carvi plant, also known as Apium Carvi, belonging to the family Umbelliferae. This pleasantly essential oil helps relieve mental stress and emotional fatigue. It supports the digestive and excretory system and clears the airways. It also helps with skin and scalp problems.


This essential oil has a sweet spicy aroma with a slight peppery smell.


Caraway oil is extracted by steam distillation from dried and ripened seeds and yields between 2-8%.

Chemical composition

The chemical components of the Caraway essential oil are acetaldehyde, Cumuninic aldehyde, Furfurol, carvone and lemon.


Although not toxic, the oil can cause skin irritation if used in excessive concentration.

Therapeutic properties

The therapeutic properties of essential oil of Caraway are: spasmolytic, antiseptic, astringent, cardiovascular, carcinogenic, digestive, disinfectant, diuretic, emmenagogue, galactagogue, expectorant, stimulant, stomach, tonic and anthelmintic.
